We loved seeing you in April! April was a busy month at YWCA Greater Lafayette, and we loved seeing everyone in our building, whether for dance classes, volleyball practice, Clay Bowl Giving Project or to work on projects or attend meetings. You have all helped to support our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women in our community.
The potters from the Greater Lafayette Clay Guild did not disappoint for Clay Bowl Giving Project, making and displaying 1,000 clay bowls to chose from during Clay Bowl. Through their support and your participation, YWCA raised almost $20,000 for our Domestic Violence Intervention & Prevention Program.
YWCA Greater Lafayette joined hundreds of YWCA associations across the nation for Stand Against Racism. Here in our community, we partnered with the Younger Women's Task Force Womxn of Color Collective for Shouting Against the Wind, a powerful evening of spoken word centered on the experiences and power of women of color.
YWCA also connected with local business, schools, community groups and churches to join us in taking a Stand Against Racism by having conversations about racism and documenting ways they can make a difference in their daily lives. Stay tuned for a community-wide summary of Stand Against Racism responses in our June edition of MISSION UPDATE.
